Have fun in the Kimball Clay Studio with family and make arctic inspired ceramic sculptures! Polar bears, penguins, narwhals – you name it, we can help you make it. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 12-14 days after the class session is finished.
Sculpture
Sculptural Welding for Anyone
Whether you have taken sculptural welding before or this is your first time, you are sure to have fun and love metal sculpture by the end of this class. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of metalworking and metal sculpture design. We will be using MIG welders, Oxygen/Acetylene torches, Plasma Cutters, Grinders, Shapers, Cut-off tools, and anything we can find laying around to bend, shape or mold our ideas into art. We encourage students to think about projects they may want to build and to keep an eye open for found metal pieces to use in their sculptures before class begins. This is a fun course for beginners and intermediate metalworkers. The first night of class will review safety and proper use of equipment. For the other 5 classes, students will work with the instructor based on their knowledge of welding to develop their projects (returning students can dive into other projects, while beginning students will work on simple projects to start). If you have ever seen sparks flying and wondered what those folks were doing, this class will answer your questions and give you the metalworking itch, guaranteed! *Any additional metal that students wish to purchase for special projects can be purchased separately by the student.

Wild Clay Kingdom
The various animal kingdoms of the world have many different types of wild animals and habitats. Each day we will focus on a different part of the world and the animals that live there. Then, we will make clay sculptures of those animals and build homes for them. Immerse your kids in the wild clay kingdom! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 10-12 days after the class session is finished.
