Sculpture
Creative Sculpture Station
Kids explore 3D creations with Janice through sculpture projects that introduce styles of modern artists such as Piet Mondrian, Marcel Duchamp, and Pablo Picasso. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with paint, paper, cardboard, and other recycled materials to create their wild sculptures.
Exhibiting Artist Workshop: Coil and Pinch // Handbuilt Vessels
Join us in the studio with exhibiting artist, Giselle Hicks! This one day workshop will focus on a fundamental clay forming technique: coil and pinch. This way of building can be used to make hand-built vessels or sculptural forms. Giselle will demonstrate her technique for making simple and complex forms with hand rolled coils and a banding wheel. Students will have the opportunity to learn her delicate technique and make their own coil and pinched forms as well.
Succulent Homes for Teens & Tweens
Get excited for spring by bringing some greenery and creativity into your life! Come create fun planters that are uniquely your own. Students will hand build their planters and explore surface decoration on the first two classes, glaze on the third, and plant them with succulents or cacti on the last day of class! All skill levels welcome. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after class has ended.
Art Exploration for Kids
Students will explore art with a variety of different mediums and techniques to diversify their creativity. We will focus on learning the basics of sculpture, printmaking, painting, and weaving. Kids will learn about 2D and 3D shapes, create sculpture fossils, carve blocks for printmaking, and make colorful weavings in this creative class!
Cool Cats, Dream Dogs!
Are you a cat person, or a dog person? This class will surely find out! Students will use a variety of techniques and mediums to create a collection of cat and dog art, in honor of their favorite feline friends and puppy pals. Each student chooses to focus on either cats or dogs to inspire their art! Kids will make a sculpture of a cat or dog that doubles as a bowl to keep small treasures using clay. We will also make paper mache masks, and carve stamps of your favorite pets. Have fun celebrating your favorite pets through art!
