Garden Gnome Homes
Everyone needs a home for their garden gnome! Kids get creative and learn with Nancy about how to build a house using large pieces of clay slabs. Each class, kids will add more and more detail until they’ve come up with an intricate finished garden gnome home that they are proud of. Kids will paint their houses with colorful underglazes. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after class has ended.
Face & Caricature Drawing
Students will have fun laughing and drawing with Kylie in this class! Kids learn proper proportions of the face, as well as exaggerating techniques to stretch and squash facial features while maintaining a likeness. Kids will mostly use drawing materials throughout the class, but will also experiment with paper and wire to help students learn about facial contours and proportions.
Pottery Pals for Tots
Spring into creativity and invite students to experiment with clay texture and shapes as they learn basic clay building skills. Students will be introduced to coils, pinch pots and slabs as they hand build fun figures from their imagination. Each class will focus on a different technique, and students will have the opportunity to paint and glaze their mini masterpieces! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready for pick up 10-12 days after class has ended.
Explorations in Painting III
Take time to relax and learn to paint with either acrylic or oil paints in this class (student’s choice). Students will learn to paint from references – either photographs and/or still life sets. Students can bring in their own photographs to paint. By the last day of class, students will have the skills necessary to continue painting on their own, or advance to another class. Teens 14+ are also welcome to enroll.xpression.
Glass Fusion I
Learn the basics of glass fusion while creating one of a kind glass projects in class. We will explore the use of tools used to shape and form glass. Properties and types of glass will be discussed, as well basic design concepts, resulting in the completion of several finished projects. Class will cover the use of reactive glasses, the use of frit, rod, and dichroic to create patterns in glass and the use of inclusions in glass such as silver foil. Cold working techniques will be demonstrated to put a finishing touch on the fused glass piece. This class is for beginners and intermediate students continuing their practice in glass fusion.
