Join our weekly watercolor class to explore the vibrant world of watercolor painting. Each week, you’ll learn various techniques such as wet-on-wet, dry brush, and glazing, while exploring color theory, composition, and texture. Through step-by-step guidance and hands-on practice, students will work on exercises and individual projects and receive personalized feedback to develop their own style. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your technique, this class offers a supportive environment to grow your creativity and skills.

For Beginners: Introduction to Handbuilding Session 2- Slab and Coil
This Beginning Handbuilding class focuses specifically on slab and coil techniques, providing a solid foundation for students new to pottery. Over the course, students will learn to create both functional and sculptural pieces using these versatile methods. The class covers essential skills such as rolling and cutting slabs, shaping and assembling coils, and incorporating surface decorations. Guided instruction and hands-on practice will help students explore ways to add texture and design to their work. By the end of the session, participants will have crafted unique ceramic pieces and gained the confidence to continue developing their handbuilding skills.
Note on firing: All work will be fired and ready for pick up in the Kimball Art Center 7-14 days after your class. We do not ship class work. If artwork is not picked up after 60 days it will be recycled. *Since artwork may look different after firing, make your pottery or sculpture recognizable by carving a signature into your piece.
The $50 material fee includes a bag of clay, with options including Rods Bod, Death Valley, and Stoney White. Porcelain is not included. Students wishing to use porcelain can get their material fee refunded and purchase porcelain separately at the front desk.

This class is perfect for clay artists who are comfortable throwing on the wheel and eager to expand their practice with new skills and advanced techniques. Learn through expert demonstrations, hands-on practice, and mentorship from our experienced teaching artist, all while collaborating with peers. This class is not intended for beginner potters. “The Compass” Colorful Art Camp(Grades 1-3)
It might be messy, but it sure to be fun! Campers play and learn with colors in various media from paint to sculpture and use the most innovative methods to create art. Be ready for the kinds of projects that have to be done in an art studio! No class 7/24. This camp is offsite at Mcpolin Elementary School.
