Painting Pet Portraits for Teens
Refine your drawing and painting skills with Anna, who will teach you how sketch and paint your pet or favorite animal. Bring a photo of your pet or any creature you love and learn how to construct a painting of it by using some of the fundamental elements of art and principles of design. We will study the major shapes and forms of your animal in order to make accurate sketches. Then after investigating the color and lighting within your photo, we will begin to paint your animal. This class will help you learn how to analyze the basic visual characteristics of animals and how to depict them through the painting process.
Stop-Motion Animation for Teens
Students will learn to create animation ‘loops’ or GIFs using stop-motion animation. Teens will have the opportunity to view examples of work and brainstorm some concepts together. Learn what a “Loop” is, and create animated sculptures. The bulk of the week will focus on the animating process and creating characters. Teens will experience guided editing, rendering, and putting final animations on flash drives (for take-home), and will present their work during class. Students will walk away with a number of sequences to share with friends. Here is a link to a really well done example: https://vimeo.com/94679344
Paper Mache Animal Heads for Teens
This enticing project will surely be a good time. Students will shape a head with balled up newspaper. Once it’s formed the paper mache fun begins! Covering every inch of the sculpture in the gooey goodness that firmly hardens provides a great painting texture. Acrylic paints will be used when the animal has been sculpted to bring the creature to life!
Plein Air Painting for Teens
Paint and picnic with Annette in City Park! Bring a snack and enjoy learning the basics of painting ‘Plein Air’, or painting outdoors. Students will discover how light and shadow look different when observing from real life rather than from a photograph. We will paint landscapes, skies, and perhaps your favorite run or trail at Park City Mountain Resort! Annette takes a simple approach, teaching students how to break down landscapes into recognizable forms. Find out how enjoyable the Plein Air painting experience can be outside the classroom!
Draw Outside the Lines: Drawing and Mixed Media for Teens
This is no ordinary drawing class! Be prepared to draw outside the lines and experiment with new drawing techniques. Emily will encourage students to share ideas and push boundaries by including collage elements into their drawings, which reveal new perspectives and textures! This class allows students to think beyond the pencil and white blank page. If your teen loves to draw and is interested in exploring new avenues in drawing, this is the class!
