Spring Break Art Camp

December 2, 2017 by

Come have fun in the studio with Cameron in this 3-day art camp! Kids will start in the Kimball Clay Studio on Monday making all sorts of ceramic creations. Then, students will doodle, sketch, paint, layer, glue and have fun as they create unique pieces of art on Wednesday. Kids will take a break mid-day to eat lunch and relax. After lunch, students return to the studio for creative free time and a PG rated movie. We will provide popcorn for the movie – please notify staff if your child has any allergies! Spaces fill fast – register in advance to reserve your space! Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 12–14 days after the class.

Glass Fusion III

July 30, 2017 by

Learn the basics of glass fusion while creating one of a kind glass projects in class. We will explore the use of tools used to shape and form glass. Properties and types of glass will be discussed, as well basic design concepts, resulting in the completion of several finished projects. Class will cover the use of reactive glasses, the use of frit, rod, and dichroic to create patterns in glass and the use of inclusions in glass such as silver foil. Cold working techniques will be demonstrated to put a finishing touch on the fused glass piece. This class is for beginners and intermediate students continuing their practice in glass fusion.  Due to slumping and firing times, glass pieces will be ready for pick up 12-14 days after class has ended.

Creating Abstractions

July 27, 2017 by

Join Jeanne as she creates a fun environment to empower creative flow in student artwork.  Students will learn about bringing shapes, color, techniques, edges, texture, value and more together to form abstract works of art. Jeanne will share different quotes and insight on creativity, discussing what helps us become more creative. Students will have the option to transfer words, quotes or sayings onto their work that may be an inspiration to others. Laughter, abstract thinking and class participation is encouraged!

Wheel Throwing for Teens II

July 25, 2017 by

All skill levels welcome! Learn the tricks of success for making clay objects on the wheel. If you have never thrown before this is the best class to learn the basics of the potter’s wheel. Students are invited to practice their skills for improvement. We will start with cups and bowls for students to gain confidence on the wheel.  As students advance, they will create their own sculptural wheel thrown designs. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 12-14 days after the class session is finished.
