Drumleaf Binding for Books
Take a drumleaf binding workshop taught by visiting artist Nicole Pietrantoni, whose work will be featured in the Kimball’s Main Gallery (Nicole Pietrantoni: Alas, Alack, February 10–April 15, 2018)! The drumleaf binding is a wonderful structure for artists. Due to the unique spine and assembly, the book lays completely flat when open so it is perfect for artwork, drawing and sketches. In this workshop, students will create a blank drumleaf book with a decorative hard cover. Participants are encouraged to bring decorative papers and collage materials that they can use for their book covers.
Wheel Throwing for Teens II
All skill levels welcome! Learn the tricks of success for making clay objects on the wheel. If you have never thrown before this is the best class to learn the basics of the potter’s wheel. Students are welcome to practice their skills for improvement. We will start with cups and bowls for students to gain confidence on the wheel. As students advance, they can come up with their own sculptural wheel thrown designs. Due to drying and firing times, pottery will be ready to pick up 12-14 days after the class session is finished.
