In this two day workshop, students will explore the beautiful Japanese resist dye technique called Shibori. Several different methods such as binding, stitching and folding the fabric will be used to create beautiful patterns on silk scarves with natural dyes. The first day, students will learn how to prepare their dyes and will begin the process of dyeing their fabric and preparing their shibori techniques. The second day, students will complete their masterpieces using the previously prepared dyes.

Suminagashi – Japanese Marbling Workshop
Experience the magic of Japanese marbling or “drifting sand” as the ancients called it. We’ll be experimenting with several techniques and will focus on the fall color palette in this workshop. Try your hand at this vibrant and colorful art form – it’s totally experiential and lots of fun!
Wake & Draw the Figure III
Unwind from the work week and enjoy your Saturday morning in the studio. This class is back by popular demand! Grab an easel or a drawing horse, bring a pad of paper, your preferred drawing medium, and your creativity. A nude and/or draped model will be present to pose. Students will work with the model to communicate positions, quick draw exercises, or extended time draws, etc., which will allow students to continue their study of the figure. There is no instructor during this open studio session, so it is suggested that students who register have figure drawing experience. Wake & Draw is meant to be a creative meeting place for artistic people to share their techniques and skills in a community setting. Come by and try it! Space is limited to 10 students, so please register in advance to reserve your space. This class is for adults only 18+.
Welding Workshop II
If you have ever seen sparks flying and wondered what those folks were doing, this class will answer your questions and give you the metalworking itch, guaranteed! Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of metalworking and metal sculpture design. We will be using MIG welders, Oxygen/Acetylene torches, Plasma Cutters, Grinders, Shapers, Cut-off tools, and anything we can find laying around to bend, shape or mold our ideas into art. This class is also open for teens ages 14+.
Monotype Printmaking
The monotype is a simple, direct printmaking process. The first time printmaker or the experienced one can produce lots of prints in this one day workshop. Using water based inks, plexi plates and a small etching press many applications can be tried and combined .Color mixing, reworking the ghost plate, multiple drops, washes, chine colle’, incorporating a matrix and much more will be covered.
