Art Making Workshop with Maia Cruz Palileo

March 29, 2022 by

Join us for a hands-on art workshop led by Maia Cruz Palileo and supported by Kimball Art Center staff. Includes a tour of Long Kwento by the artist. Create an artwork inspired by family oral histories using personal photographs as references. Basic drawing and printmaking techniques will be taught and used to create a meaningful and personal narrative.

  • Prior to the workshop participants will receive an email with information on reference images and reflection in preparation for the art making.
  • Light appetizers and refreshments will be provided.

3D Art

March 8, 2022 by

A great class to learn about a variety of 3D materials. Young artists will start with a hand-built project in clay for the first day of this camp. In the following days, students will complete the clay forms and learn about 3D design by participating in a range of guided hands-on making activities. Small projects will include some traditional materials for design classes such as wire, cardboard and papier-mâché, and more.

Digital Photography

March 8, 2022 by

Learn about in-camera control, camera functions and settings, and discuss new techniques in this interactive class. Wear comfortable walking shoes as much of this class involves exploring nearby picturesque locations. Bring your own digital camera (no cell phones please).

Digital Art

March 7, 2022 by

Create digitally using WACOM tablets and laptops. Practice drawing and painting from photographs and imagination to create your own character concepts for games, stories, animations, and more. Laptops, drawing tablets and software will be provided. (limit 6 participants) Because each student is unique, projects may be altered and one-on-one instruction will be given to suit each student’s skills, talents, knowledge, and interest level.

Pen, Ink and Markers

March 7, 2022 by

Refine your pen and ink techniques and learn all about markers in this contemporary illustration art camp with local artist AD Allegretti. Young artists will learn new skills with a range of materials while practicing expressing ideas, developing their own unique style and creating designs.
