E.V.A. is evolving!

For more than a decade, Kimball Art Center has partnered with Park City School District to bring meaningful, hands-on visual arts experiences to elementary students through the Elementary Visual Arts (EVA) program. Today, we are excited to share that visual arts instruction will become a fully integrated, standards-aligned part of every elementary student’s academic schedule across the district. The Evolution of EVA

Park City School District and Kimball Art Center are partnering on the next step of the Elementary Visual Arts Program. Starting in the 2026 school year, visual arts instruction will exist as a fully integrated, standards-aligned part of every elementary student’s academic schedule across the district.

Every Park City elementary student, at every elementary campus, will receive consistent, developmentally appropriate arts instruction as part of their regular school day. For Kimball Art Center, this is a meaningful expansion of our long-standing partnership. We will continue working directly with schools and educators to provide arts expertise, curriculum collaboration, museum experiences, visiting artists, and hands-on learning opportunities that deepen and extend classroom instruction.

We at Kimball Art Center are proud to see visual arts recognized as essential to the development of the whole child–fostering creativity, critical thinking, confidence, and connection. This transition ensures that arts education is not dependent on supplemental funding or volunteer capacity, but is instead firmly established as a foundational part of every student’s learning experience. We’re grateful to the educators, families, and community partners who built EVA and Masterpieces in Art into programs our community values so deeply. This next chapter promises to mean big things for arts education for all Park City students for years to come.

THE HISTORY OF EVA

Art Education for the Park City School District

For more than a decade, Elementary Visual Arts (EVA) brought high-quality visual arts experiences to elementary students throughout the Park City School District. Kimball Art Center partnered with the Park City Education Foundation to develop and deliver visual arts curriculum in local elementary schools. Lesson plans were created by Kimball Art Center educators and focused on the Utah Elementary Visual Arts Core Curriculum. Find these past lesson plans and supplemental materials below).

CURRENT LESSON PLAN

Faith Ringgold – Quilts

Faith Ringgold (1930–2024) reimagined traditional quilt-making by combining fabric art with painting and storytelling to convey powerful personal and cultural narratives. Students will explore color theory and symbolism as they create paper quilt collages inspired by Ringgold’s vibrant and thought-provoking work.
